NYC Happenings is a free, simple way to find good local events in New York and share plans with friends.
Events lists everything by day. Narrow it down by category, price, newsletter, neighborhood, ZIP, date or time, and switch between List, Tiles and Map. Events marked ★ are Top picks, a few standouts each day; turn on “Top picks only” to see just those.
Tap the bookmark on any event to save it to Plans, where you can add it to your calendar or start a group. Send a group's invite link to friends, and everyone can add events, say they're going, and comment. To see your plans on another phone or laptop, use “Link your devices” at the bottom of Plans. No account needed.
Getting settled in a new city takes work: figuring out what's going on, where to go, how to get connected. I've done it a lot, moving about 8 times across 5 states over the course of several years.
New York is a different beast. There's more going on here than anywhere I've lived, but no one place made it easy to find the good local events.
So I built the thing I wanted to use, a way to spend less time searching and more time out doing things. (Building it has, ironically, kept me online quite a bit.)
As I've met more people, some through events I found here, I've added ways to save, share, and make plans with groups.
It's a passion project I pay for myself, and it doesn't make money right now. It's been worth it for me, and I hope it's useful to you too, whether you're new to the city or have been here for years.
Hope to see y'all around at some of these events.
Jake

Many come from free NYC event newsletters put together by people with a great eye for what's happening in the city. Each event links to its listing and credits where it was found, and every newsletter is listed on the Sources page. If one keeps turning up things you like, subscribe. Some also offer paid subscriptions, which support their work and may include events you won't find here. Other events come from public listings around the web.
Event descriptions are short summaries written by AI from the original listings, not copied from them. Details can change, so check with the organizer before you go. This site isn't affiliated with any of these newsletters or organizers. Spot something wrong? Same email.
